I always know the moon is coming when out of nowhere I become overwhelmed with the desire to make something huge and unlike anything else in my shoppe. Such was the case when last the moon turned full, I put aside my work and made this super enormous Kali headdress. I am not sure what inspired it other than i was particularly drawn to blue at the time, and went and got a bunch of feathers accordingly. Neither this photo nor the headdress are direct interpretations of the blue goddess, but just a glammed up smurf avatar version. I am super proud of my headdress and this bad ass photo Lucky created. Among the amazingly talented, proactive, creative, inspiring people in my life is Peter, the creator and designer at Shrine Clothing (http://shrinestore.com/) (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shrine-of-Hollywood/250768521625678). As I have mentioned, I love love love creative people. They speak my language. Not only is Peter full of infinite ideas for new bad ass clothing, he is also responsible and smart. A lotta people can sew a cool skirt, but not everyone can have it sold in stores across the country. I really admire that quality in him. He has always been so kind to me, since 11 years ago when my boyfriend worked in his shop on Melrose until now. He even shot some of his catalog in my place, which was so flattering! OK, OK…. enough marshmallow fluff, you get the idea… he is rad. His clothing is rad. His partner Rhonda is rad. Tommy, who works at the warehouse and also DJ’s at Bar Sinister (https://www.facebook.com/ClubBarSinister), is rad. AND his girlfriend is rad. They had actually sold out of this outfit but when I asked that I could shoot it she lent me hers to incorporate in this shoot. THANK YOU!!!!

As I may have mentioned, Bats Day in the Fun Park (https://www.facebook.com/batsdayinthefunpark) is coming up… tomorrow! Thousand of goth kids from around the country flood the gates of Disneyland in spooky regalia and bring a smokey cloud of black lace over the happiest place on earth. Fuck yes. It is amazing to see the tourists looks of confusion, they just don’t know why all these parasol adorned pierced up rainbow haired young adults are flocking to get their photos taken with goofy and Minnie. Speaking of Minnie… you know she is my faaaavorite! So in proper form, me and Lucky did this bloody shoot in some of my mouse ears, which I am bringing to their Black Market to sell tomorrow. Hope you enjoy, I had so so so so much fun dancing around to ‘Putin’ on the Ritz’ in this outfit. All Hail Minnie.

Today is what we call ladies day. Following a hike, some work, some craft supply shopping, and some yoga, my two hair bleaching buddies came over for late night root therapy. It seems being a colorful woman is so time consuming. As time approaches to vend my hats (http://www.BubblesAndFrown.etsy.com) this coming weekend at Bats Day ( https://www.facebook.com/batsdayinthefunpark) and the following weekend at Lightning In A Bottle (http://lightninginabottle.org/) there is endless preparation… the making of black on black Minnie Mouse ears, the making of feather mohawks, putting combs in all my pieces, tags, repairing the paint on my mannequin heads… endless, endless tasks! It is all pretty fun and seems silly that part of the preparation is beautifying myself. I gotta represent, yo. I can’t be showing up shabbily adorned with 2 inch roots, no sir. My hair must be glistening orange in the sun, my face must be jeweled, my outfit must be superb. All this, and more, is happening right now at Pillar Box Studios. Lucky and I have been wanting to do this wear-all-the-laundry shoot for a while but we were waiting for the perfect combination of laziness and laundry-day-ness….. Finally, we have our chance! Today as I was innocently washing my laundry Lucky realized the opportunity to make me look like a complete ass and jumped on it. The opportunity, not my ass. We live on the second floor but the building across the alley from us has a parking lot on the second story. Seeing cars pull up outside of my second floor window was a bit hard to get used to when I first moved in.

Most, but not all, of the window panes are pebbled glass so people can’t just look right into our fishbowl. The people who work in the building across the alley are an eagle eyed bunch though and when Sylva was up in the window shooting day #78 they spotted her naked ass right away through one of the few clear panes and gave her the thumbs up. It’s nice to know our neighbors approve. I wonder if it was my naked ass in the window if they’d have the same reaction:)

Anyway, today we felt like doing a simple one so I went over to their parking lot to see what the view was like. Surprisingly no one from the building popped out as soon as she got in the window. - Lucky
